Trossard, 27, fell short in his first half with just minutes left on the clock and received seven minutes of treatment at St Mary’s.

He jumped to find a ball but was nudged in the back in mid-air causing him to go down.

Seagulls Boss Graham Potter used all his reserves, meaning his side had to play 11 MINUTES of injury time with just 10 men.

But just like they did in West Ham on Wednesday, Brighton – who is leading 1-0 first Saints when Trossard fell – used extra time to their advantage and found a late equalizer thanks to Neal Maupay.

The provocative forward got the finish of Jakub Moder’s deflected shot to beat Alex McCarthy to make it 1-1 and denied a precious three points of Southampton.

Chelsea Loanee Armando Broja’s fifth goal gave the home side the lead in the first half.

But they could not keep the win that they should have ranked 11th, not 14th in the current position.

Brighton is ninth.

It’s not yet clear how long Trossard will be sidelined although many Seagulls fans fear the layoffs are lengthy due to their man’s reaction and the need for stretchers.

Potter said after the game: “It was an elbow, we didn’t think it was as bad as first thought.

“But again we don’t have a huge amount of information.

“The early diagnosis is a little better, we’ll have to see how it plays out the next day or so.”
