Dean Norris has urged Americans to stop complaining about rising gas prices and to “shut up”.
The 59-year-old actor continued as Agent Hank Schrader breaking BadShe took to Twitter to comment on the situation, urging those who “love capitalism” to calm down.
“You don’t get ‘robbed’ at the pump,” he wrote. “You pay a fair market price for a product. If you love capitalism that much, then stfu.”
Earlier this month, gasoline prices in the US hit a record $5 (£4.08) a gallon.
In March, US President Joe Biden blamed Russian President Vladimir Putin for the rise in fuel prices.
“Our prices are increasing because of Putin’s actions,” he said. “There aren’t enough supplies. And the bottom line is, if we want lower gas prices, we need to have more oil stocks now.”
He added: “Putin’s price hike is hitting Americans at the pump and I know how much it hurts.”
Norris’ opinion drew criticism from his supporters, with some urging him to “shut up” in return.
“Sir, respectfully shut up,” one person wrote. “With your net worth of five million dollars, you have no right to talk about other people’s feelings at the pump. Go to hell.”
Comedian Walter Masterson wrote, “I wasn’t expecting Hank breaking Bad to be so founded.”
Another person wrote, “Easy to say for someone who has a net worth of $5 million.”
