Brazilian politicians survive after helicopter crash

Two politicians, an employee and a helicopter pilot miraculously survived when their plane hit a power line, crashed to the ground and burst into flames.

The shocking video captures the moment the silver helicopter carrying Brazilian MP Hercílio Araújo Diniz and David Barroso, Governador Valadares’ deputy mayor, slowly crashes into the power cord.

Video of the collision was captured by a witness on the ground and onlookers can hear a gasp of horror as the helicopter lost its composure and dove to the ground below, where it caught fire.

All four on board survived with minor injuries, the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais said. They were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Firefighters said the pilot lost control before colliding with a power line at the edge of a freeway, the US Sun reported.

After the crash, the electricity supply to the municipalities of Sobrália and Fernandes Tourinho was cut, according to local reports.
