Brave Spanish police save frozen reservoir to rescue dog

MADRID (Reuters) – Two Spanish policemen waded into a frozen reservoir to rescue a stranded dog as a frigid front hit the north of the country, police said on Wednesday.

Video released by police shows officers stripping down to the waist and entering the icy waters to bring the animal back to safety.

The dog was trapped in a reservoir in Canfranc, Aragon, eastern Spain, for hours on Tuesday, police said.

The Spanish Meteorological Agency forecast heavy snowfall and high winds in the northern regions of Spain on Wednesday.

To avoid congestion on roads, traffic authorities are advising people to return early after a five-day break that ends on Wednesday.
