Boy, 17, injured in shooting near New York high school: police officers

According to authorities and sources, a 17-year-old boy was shot and killed just steps from his high school in Brooklyn on Friday afternoon.

The teenager was blown up in the stomach at Neptune Avenue and Ocean Parkway in Brighton Beach — about a block from Abraham Lincoln High School, which is on Ocean Parkway near Shore Parkway, cops said.

He is a student at the school, according to police sources and Mona Davids, a representative for the New York City School Safety Coalition.

The 17-year-old Lincoln High School student was shot in the stomach by the school shortly after 1 p.m., police officers said.

He was taken to NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn, where his condition was stable.

The motive for the shooting wasn’t immediately known, but the victim has no criminal record, according to police sources.

The male suspect, who fled after the shooting, was last seen in a gray hoodie, black pants and a black backpack, police officers said.

“The safety of our students is our top priority,” Department of Education spokeswoman Jenna Lyle said in a statement. “Following a non-school related incident in the community, this school was placed in an emergency shelter which has now been vacated. We will fully support the NYPD in their ongoing investigation and offer support to the students and the school community at large.”

The shooting comes days after 15-year-old Unique Smith, a student at Brooklyn Laboratory Charter Schools, was shot dead in nearby McLaughlin Park at Tillary and Jay Streets.

Law enforcement sources told The Post that two masked men approached Smith and asked about his gang affiliation.

Police said Smith got into a fight with his attackers and was shot once with a 9mm pistol before the gunman ran away.

Smith was later pronounced dead at New York/Presbyterian Methodist Hospital.
