And boss Powell wants to be convinced the mindset is right as they seek a trip to Tottenham.

He said: “Lose three games for confidence reasons and that gets messed up. It’s about how quickly we get that back.

“We need to have that durability and handle the difficult moments a little bit better. That was part of the criticism I’ve received about the team in recent weeks.

“You only notice the competitive pressure when you start playing, but we want to improve it. In terms of motivation, it should be at the top.

“You work on things with individual players, but ultimately it’s the confidence that they’re all doing their jobs effectively.

“We’re starting to find consistency and we’re going to be a much more dangerous rugby league team.”

Powell will be without full-back Stefan Ratchford for about three weeks after sustaining a shoulder injury in the league loss to Wakefield.

And he believes memories of the Wembley win in 2019 can help them avenge last Saturday’s 38-22 defeat.

He added: “The important thing is that it’s a separate competition – there’s no Super League pressure this week but the Challenge Cup is huge for this club.

“The players have that firmly in their heads.”
