Boris JohnsonYour government has changed the rules for your contacts Covid omicron variant cases, say people can do daily tests to avoid 10 days of self-isolation.

The Prime Minister announced the move to the so-called ‘plan B‘measures in the UK on Wednesday – bring back work from the guide house and reintroduce the Covid pass to nightclubs.

Mr Johnson also revealed a relaxation in rules for contacts with omicrons aimed at avoiding another “pandemic”, in which millions of Britons are likely to be asked to stay home.

“As omicrons spread in the community, we will also introduce daily tests for contacts rather than isolation, so we keep everyone safe while minimizing disruption to life. everyday life,” Mr Johnson said at a press conference in Downing Street.

In November, the government changed the rules so that people who come into contact with people identified as a suspected or confirmed case of the omicron variant must stay home and isolate for 10 days.

The Prime Minister said at the press conference that the government still cannot consider omicrons less severe than previous variants.

“While the picture could get better, and I really hope that happens, we know that the unrepentant logic of exponential growth can lead to an huge increase in hospitalizations and therefore, sadly, deaths,” he said.

Mr Johnson said the new limited plan B was “commensurate and responsible” to “slow the spread of the virus, giving us time to get more boosters into the weapon”.

As well as asking people across Britain to work from home from Monday, masks will be made mandatory in theaters and cinemas from Friday as part of plan B.

The mandatory vaccine “passport” will also be brought back for larger events and nightclubs over the seven-day period. A negative lateral flow test would also be sufficient evidence, Mr Johnson said.

Locations include indoor locations with more than 500 people, uncovered outdoor locations with more than 4,000 people, and any location with more than 10,000 people.

Announcing a limited plan B in the Commons, Health Secretary Sajid Javid now “probably” has up to 10,000 people in the UK infected with the new type of omicron.

England’s chief medical officer, Professor Chris Whitty, said there was an “extremely severe” rise in South Africa, where omicrons were first detected – pointing to data showing “an increase in hospital admissions by around 300 % in the last week”.

Prof Whitty said at the press conference that the data in the UK was clear that omicron cases here were also increasing “extremely rapidly” – with the rate doubling over a two- to three-day period.

The top advisor warns: “That’s an incredibly fast rate, and so you can get from very small to very large actually pretty quickly.”
