The police searching for a missing 17-year-old girl found a body in the woods.
Imogen Tothill, 17, was unable to return home to Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, yesterday.
A huge search has been made for the teenager but police confirmed today they have found a body.
They are awaiting official identification but believe it is missing Imogen.
Her death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner, Cheshire Police confirmed.
A spokesman said: “Staff searching for a missing teenage girl from Holmes Chapel were saddened to find a body.
“The body was discovered in a wooded area near Ravenscroft earlier today, Wednesday 9 February.
“Official identification has yet to be made, but it is believed to be that of the missing teenager Imogen Tothill.
“Her relatives have been notified and are being supported by specialist officers.
“Our thoughts are with the Imogen family at this difficult time.”
Officers searched for Imogen overnight after she was reported missing.
Her disappearances were said to be “out of character” as police confirmed they were increasingly confirmed.
