Boat Rescue: Coast Guard assists 1 aboard ship that hits water in Clear Lake

CLEAR LAKE, Texas (KTRK) — A man was rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard on Friday after his ship began taking water in Clear Lake.
The Coast Guard said around 6:12 p.m. a rescue boat crew encountered the man on patrol.
Crews used a hand pump to drain the boat and get him to safety, authorities said.
“Even if you have automatic pumps installed on your boat, we recommend having a manual pump on board for such situations,” the Coast Guard said in a press release. “We urge boaters to carry a damage control kit consisting of plugs, tape and other materials to patch holes and slow flooding in an emergency.”
