Biggest Twitch Records: Most subs, longest subathon, longest twitch stream

Since Twitch is now over 10 years old, records on the platform have been broken time and time again. In the highly competitive world of streaming, records are set for longest streams, subathons, and even most subscribers or views on Twitch – so we’ve rounded up the most impressive records in the platform’s history.

As audiences for live streaming grow, streamers find themselves in a constant battle for viewers’ attention. Established streamers are struggling to keep their viewer base while newcomers are fighting for their share. In the process, records are set for various milestones.

You can see the viewership records on Twitch as well as the highest viewership on YouTube here. But while viewership peaks alone are the most common measure of popularity on Twitch, there are many other records and milestones streamers are striving for.

Most subscribers on Twitch

The current record for the highest number of subscribers on Twitch is held by LudwigWith 283,066 subscribers.

As well as viewers and Followers, subscribers are another way to measure how popular a streamer is. But unlike followers, the number of subscribers can tell us how popular that streamer is at any given moment, as it can go up or down every month.

Over the years, many streamers have broken records for the most subscribers at once. As is well known, Ninja set the record in April 2018 with 269,000, but it has since been beaten. Ludwig now holds the record after his Subathon 2021.

Recordings from Twitch Subscribers

Twitch Subscriber Records
#1 Ludwig 283,066 (April 2021)
#2 ninja 269,154 (April 2018)
#3 Geekandsundry 55,349 (February 2018)
#4 Tyler1 36,666 (February 2018)

Despite big subathons from both Kkatamina (73,000 subs) and Ironmouse (177,000 subs), no one managed to beat Ludwig’s record of 283km. Kkatamina held the record for female streamers before being overtaken by Ironmouse.

Longest Subathon on Twitch

The current record for longest completed subathon stream is 163 daysheld by Emilycc.

Another record streamers are chasing is the infamous “Subathon‘. Made famous by Ludwig, who helped him break the sub record with his Subathon, many other streamers have created their own version. But it’s about more than just the number of subscribers you can amass, instead focusing on how long the subathon lasts.

Ludwig capped his stream at 30 days, but others were less conservative. September 2021, PandaTV streamed 840 hours straight, setting a new record. This was then eclipsed by PappiEric with a 45-day subathon. In September, Athena streamed over 1000 hours straight for her subathon, which is 47 days.

The record currently stands at a whopping 143 dayscompleted by streamers Emilycc. The show is still streaming (at the time of writing) and holds the current record for longest subathon stream.

Longest Subathon on Twitch
#1 Emilycc 163 days (continuous)
#2 emergency 115 days (April 2022)
#3 TaySpokes 112 days (March 2022)
#4 snake game 78 days (March 2022)
#5 ghost in the machine 76 days (October 2021)

Longest stream on Twitch

These subathon streams may seem long, but they’re nothing compared to the longest overall stream on Twitch. So what is the longest stream by a single streamer on Twitch?

This record was originally set by Los Pollos TV, in April 2020, with 161 hours live, and since then many channels have tried to break it. CallMeCypher set a new record shortly thereafter, streaming for 200 hours straight before it was shut down due to technical issues.

GPHustla is celebrating a year on Twitch
Twitch/GPHustla

GPHustla has been live on Twitch for over a year in a row.

Now there is a clear record holder, and it is unlikely that anyone will ever overtake him. At the time of writing Twitch Streamer GPHustla became live, with a single uninterrupted broadcast, e.g 465 days. This is the longest solo live stream on Twitch.

If we go beyond solo streamers, the channel is ‘StreamerHouse‘ claims to have been live continuously since 2013, which of course would mean it holds the overall record. However, this is more of a group of friends and guests than a single streamer.

So there you have it – that’s everything you need to know about the biggest Twitch records, from most subs to longest streams.
