Biden’s Delaware neighbors welcome migrant flights from DeSantis, Abbott

Delaware residents who live near President Biden’s “white summer home” on Wednesday praised Republican governors for relocating migrants to Democratic enclaves — with one saying “Liberals miss the point.”

Terri Barbiche, 69, of Georgetown, Del., said Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott were “doing something that says, ‘We can’t keep them all here.'”

“Put them in Rehoboth, Biden’s little town where he comes every weekend,” Barbiche said.

“The Liberals miss the point. Do they expect Texas and Florida to hold all migrants forever?”

Babiche’s comments came a day after White House and Delaware officials prepared for the arrival of a planeload of migrants, based on a report that DeSantis — who sent two planeloads of migrants to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts last week — apparently chartered a flight from San Antonio, Texas to Delaware Coastal Airport in Georgetown.

The airport is about 20 miles from the $2.7 million Rehoboth Beach vacation home that Biden and First Lady Jill Biden bought in 2017.

But the migrants never arrived, leaving it unclear whether the report was unfounded or whether the flight was canceled after it was made public.

DeSantis previously tweeted “Rehoboth Beach, Delaware next,” but the governor was cryptic on Tuesday, refusing to confirm the reported flight to Biden’s home state but boasting that the move from Martha’s Vineyard “had a bigger impact than anyone thought.” that this might be possible”.

“But we will continue to make a bigger impact,” he added, according to Florida television network WESH 2.

Socorro Enriquez of Seaford, Delaware, who immigrated from Mexico 22 years ago, said, “Honestly, there are too many migrants crossing the border into America.”

President Biden recently defended his actions to allow migrants into the country.

“Immigrants come to America to find a job, so it would make more sense to spread them out across the country,” she said.

“All states should help with the problem.”

Michael Catrino, 55, of Dagsboro, Delaware,” said, “DeSantis is bringing awareness to the open border. This country should not have an open border.”

“Let DeSantis do what he does,” he said.

“The media is finally talking about the border.”

Dolores Esposito of Harbeson, Delaware said, “We need the wall.”

“You feel for these migrants. They die on their journey to America. They think the border is open, so they come,” she said.

“It would be kinder to close the border so they don’t take their lives into their own hands. It’s inhuman.”

DeSantis’ Martha’s Vineyard flights came after Abbott began busing migrants into Washington, DC to protest what he calls Biden’s “irresponsible open borders policy.”

Last month, Abbott expanded the program to New York City and Chicago.

Democratic officials in all three cities have criticized Abbott, saying the arrivals are causing a “humanitarian crisis” and straining local resources to the “point of stress.”
