Biden Issues Warrant to Protect Abortion Services

After the reversal of Roe v. Wade two weeks ago, President Joe Biden will take executive action Friday to protect access to abortion, three people familiar with the matter told the Associated Press.

Amid criticism from some Democrats for not acting with urgency, Biden will speak “about protecting access to reproductive health services,” sources told the news service Friday morning — though the actions he is expected to take will be limited, according to the AP- Report.

Biden will issue instructions to the Departments of Justice, Health and Human Services to oppose efforts designed to limit women’s ability to receive state-approved abortion drugs or have to travel to different states to obtain an abortion, officials said .

Protest against Roe v. calf
The executive action comes two weeks after the landmark Roe v. Wade of 1973 was overturned, prompting protests from pro-choice Americans across the country.

Biden will also order authorities to better educate medical providers and insurers on how and when to share patient information with authorities to better protect women seeking or having an abortion.

The US Supreme Court overturned the landmark 1973 case on June 24 in a 6-3 verdict.

Biden said his authority to act is limited without congressional action.

Actions taken by the DOJ and Health and Human Services in court do not guarantee that the justice system will side with them against possible prosecution by states that have moved to prohibit abortion.
