Bear Branch Park reopens April 2022 with new inclusion playground

All game structures and rubber surfaces at the park will be demolished and redesigned, and the new playground is expected to feature more elevated play structures with ramps, ferris wheel that can continue. access, five swing options and two playhouses, and more elements included according to the release.
As previously reported by Community Impact Newspapers, the budget for the project is approximately $831,000, including $600,000 from the town’s 2021 capital improvement budget and the remainder from the 2020 budget.
The main walkway between the recreation center, park swing and playground will remain open during construction. Access to tennis courts, skate parks, multi-purpose courts or the road leading to Alden Woods will not be affected.
Bear Branch Park, opened in 2001, includes the town’s only playground designed for full inclusion, although all community playgrounds meet Disability Act standards United States at the time of installation, according to town documents.
The new playground will implement additional elements that allow individuals with and without disabilities to access the playground. According to the release, individuals with disabilities related to visual, intellectual and physical differences as well as autism will have play elements and features that better meet their needs.
