Baytown Crime: Missing woman, body of Mareisha Dockery found floating weeks after going missing

BAYTOWN, Texas (KTRK) – The body of a woman, who was reported missing in December, has been found in a bayou in Chambers County, according to authorities.

On Monday, the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office said Baytown police officers found a body floating on a Cedar Bayou in the 2200 block of Elton.

On January 6, through partial fingerprints and recorded tattoos, the body was identified as that of Mareisha Dockery, 25 years old.

According to authorities, Dockery was reported missing to the Houston Police Department on December 26, but her last known contact was on December 18 in southwest Houston, near the Southwest Freeway and Sam Houston Tollway.

Dockery’s cause of death remains unclear, but authorities say it appears her body has been in the hangou for a long time.
