Baltimore Shooting Victim Identified as an Employee of the Department of Public Works, Police Are Looking for a Suspect – CBS Baltimore

BALTIMORE (WJZ) – Police have identified a man was shot dead in front of his children on Thursday morning in Northeast Baltimore as an employee of the Department of Public Works.
Police are asking for the public’s assistance in finding a person of interest.

Jake Rogers, 34, was found shot around 8:30 a.m. Thursday in the yard of a home on Holder Avenue, according to the Baltimore Police Department. He later died of his injuries at a hospital.
Rogers was driving his three children in a truck to school when neighbors said they heard about five gunshots.
Neighbor’s wife Tracy Stover was carrying Rogers’ crying babies out of the truck when the incident happened.

“Come Monday or Tuesday [shot] I realized it wasn’t a cap or anything like that, it was a gun,” Stover said. “She ran to the truck and grabbed the kids, she was giving me the kids I was trying to get in the door while the commotion was going on.”
Police identified Rogers as an employee of the Baltimore City Department of Public Works. The city agency could not be immediately reached for comment on Friday.
Police have released an image of a person interested in the shooting dressed in black, who is believed to have been last seen running north on Holder Avenue.
Homicide detectives are investigating Rogers’ shooting as a homicide. No details about a possible engine have been revealed.
