Back-to-School Season: Here is a list of events taking place in the Houston area for students returning to class

HOUSTON, TX (KTRK) — The back-to-school season is upon us.

With many events taking place throughout Houston, we have created a list of some upcoming school events that families can attend before the start of the school year.

Saturday August 6th

Foundation 45 Mitsubishi is hosting a drive-thru event Saturday from 9am to 1pm along the North Freeway at Parramatta Lane, where 3,000 free backpacks containing essential school supplies will be distributed.

Saturday August 13th

The Morales Memorial Foundation is hosting its 25th Annual Back to School Supplies Giveaway on August 13 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Morales Funeral Home at 2901 Canal Street Students must be present to receive their materials appropriate to their grade level. You can register for the event here.

The Houston Mayor’s Office Back 2 School Festival, the Houston Food Bank and Shell will be distributing school supplies on Saturday, August 13 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. or until supplies last at the George R. Brown Convention Center. To register, you can visit the city’s website.

Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church will be held on Saturday, August 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Wheeler Ave. 3826 hosting a Back to School Supply Giveaway. Registration is required, which can be done on their website.

Sunday 14 August

Village Life Prep and Grayscale Barbershop are partnering to offer free haircuts and school supplies to children on Sunday, August 14 from 11:00am to 6:00pm at the Grayscale Barbershop at 19909 Morton Road #800 in Katy.
