ARSENAL’s removal of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Barcelona happened in the last minute of the transfer window.
Barca president, Joan Laporta, revealed that the Gabon striker’s departure from Arsenal was almost because the Gunners were slow to give the green light.
Arsenal finally went ahead for Free transfer of Auba after negotiating a return for the last 18 months on his £350,000-a-week contract with Emirates.
But Laporta revealed that the paperwork for the Prem club only came as the window was about to close.
Auba, 32, is believed to have signed a new contract with Barcelona in Spain at midnight on Monday, but the LaLiga giants have yet to officially announce him – even though he practiced with his new teammates yesterday.
Laporta announced: “Finally, the document arrives with a minute left of the market close.
“If all goes well, we will present Aubameyang weekend.”
Aubameyang has been blockaded by Gunners manager Mikel Arteta since mid-December after breaking discipline.
The former Arsenal captain will see a substantial pay cut – to around £60,000 a week – for the first six months although it is expected he will receive a significant improvement if he stays for the next season.
His father, also named Pierre and living on the outskirts of Barcelona, posted his “confirmation” message on social media.
In a post filled with emojis in French and Spanish, he said: “I give thanks to almighty God.
“How beautiful, my son. How could you not be proud?
“We will always go first, my son.”
Aubameyang didn’t play for Arsenal as of December 6, missed the last ten games.
He is also omitted during Arsenal’s current winter training trip to Dubai.
However, Barca coach Xavi can forced to drop Auba from his Europa League squad.
Aubameyang is one of the four Barca Signed in January, but Uefa only allows a maximum of three new players to participate in European competitions.
Therefore, Xavi will have to choose between Dani Alves, Ferran Torres, Adama Traore and Aubameyang.
