Under EU law, a business wishing to do so must register with the Financial Conduct Authority, a lengthy and expensive process.

But new post-Brexit deregulation has cut that requirement.

More than 1,000 yen Retailers already part of the Cash Back Without Purchase program, with another 1,000 expected to join by the end of 2021.

Branches of the main chain include Sainsbury’s, Post Office and London will participate.

Withdrawals of any amount between 1p and £50 can now be made at the time of arrival, regardless of the notes available at your nearest withdrawal point.

After a year-long trial program, ATM operator LINK will accelerate the rollout along with the PayPoint payment service.

The regional trial scheme has seen shoppers in Staffordshire, Wales and Scotland make nearly 25,000 transactions with an average value of £27.81.

More than £680,000 has been withdrawn.

Consumers can find the nearest Cashback Location without purchasing by using LINK’s Cash Locator Website and applications.

The widget also allows users to view cash fees at each location and its opening hours.

John Glen, Treasury Secretary for Economy, said: “It is great to see that LINK and PayPoint are taking advantage of the legislative changes we made earlier this year.

“Refund at service until it makes a real difference to local communities.”

LINK consumer council president Tracey Graham added: “Protecting access to cash is absolutely vital to the millions of people who depend on it.”

Retailers including Asos and Amazon also run cash-back programs, Sun Savers explained.

And you can even get cashback on your expensive energy bills.

But that’s not all good news, with dozens TSB branch stopped working when direct demand falls.

Santander also closed 111 locations this summer, leaving the chain with 425 banks nationwide.

And HSBC announced it will close 82 branches by 2021.
