‘Ashes’ of cat, who disappeared from Maine home in 2015, found 7 years later in Florida

PORTLAND, Maine – A Maine family that abandoned a long-lost family cat is being reunited – nearly seven years and 1,500 miles later.

Denise Cilley, of Chesterville, said she was shocked when she received a voicemail last week announcing her cat, Ashes, had been placed in Florida.

Ash disappeared in 2015 during her daughter’s 10th birthday celebration.

“They have been looking for her for quite a long time and they sadly concluded that she may have become a baby,” said Janet Williams, a family friend in Florida who temporarily kept the cat. bait for a predator. tell WABI-TV.

The vet’s office was able to identify the kitten thanks to an implanted microchip. But how she got to Florida remains a mystery.

Cilley said she plans to be there to pick up her pet at Portland International Jetport.
