Incredible bodycam footage shows the morbid moment Arthur Labinjo-Hughes’ stepmother faked tears while trying to blame him for his fatal wound.

Emma Tustin, 32, killed the 6-year-old boy by repeatedly banging his head against a hard surface after she and her partner Thomas Hughes, 29, starved the boy and poisoned him with salt.

Tustin is convicted of murdering Arthur on June 17 last year, while his father Thomas was found guilty of manslaughter – but cleared of murder – for encouraging the killing.

Coventry Crown Court heard Arthur was subjected to a ‘cruelty campaign’ that ‘levels of torture’.

Newly released police footage of Tustin’s arrest shows the stepmother crying over an alligator as she claims the six-year-old boy had actually beaten her and injured himself.

She claims the youngster injured himself by hitting his head on the radiator and ‘slamming his head on the floor with all fours’.

She told police: ‘Arthur was asked to sit on the steps thinking and Arthur threw himself on the floor.

‘He hit the radiator himself, he hit me, he kicked me in the process I was trying to bring him back to a thinking step.

‘Then he walked on all fours on the floor and I told him to get up and I closed the door. All I heard was a crack, he was headbutting the floor on all fours.

‘I said ‘Arthur, you’re going to hurt yourself, I called your dad’ and he said ‘I don’t care’.

‘At that point he was fine, and then he dropped his head again when I tried to hold him and pick him up, and he hit his head on the floor three times. “

Taking the officer outside the house, she pointed to the area in the doorway where she assumed Arthur had hit him in the head.

She added: ‘It’s concrete, there’s no lining underneath. But he hit his head three or four times, he knocked himself unconscious. I picked him up, put him on the sofa, poured water in my mouth. ‘

When the officer asked her what she was going to do next, Tustin said: ‘I walked out, told him to get up, he told me no. So I tried to hold him and put my arms under him and pick him up, he dropped and he hit his head three more times on the floor. ‘

Apparently becoming emotional, Tustin said Arthur ‘hit’ and ‘kicked’ her as she tried to lift him off the floor

She went on to claim that the six-year-old had ‘beaten’ her children and his father and ‘smashed the house to pieces’.

She said: ‘The last six months he’s beaten both of my children, he’s smashed this house to pieces, he’s beaten his dad, he’s beaten me.

‘When I tried to push him off the floor, from headbutting the floor, he headbutted me and he kicked me and he hit me.

‘We went to a friend’s house yesterday and he pushed me down five stairs. “You are not my real mother, I hate you, I will make you kill me,” he said. “

While sobbing, Tustin added: ‘And even so, I did my best for that child.’

During the entire conversation, Arthur’s father Hughes remained completely silent, standing in the back and watching the exchange.

The gruesome details of what really happened to Arthur emerged during a nine-week trial at Conventry Crown Court.

Juries have heard how young Arthur died after suffering ‘irreparable’ brain injuries following a campaign of ‘devil’ abuse.

Heartbreaking footage of ‘starving’ boy showed him cry ‘no one loves me’ and struggled to carry a blanket for hours before dying.

He is said to have been deprived of food and had to stand in the hallway for 14 hours a day.

Tustin committed the fatal attack while tending to Arthur at her home in Cranmore Road, Solihull, violently shaking him and repeatedly banging his head, likely against a hallway wall.

She then mercilessly took a picture of the unconscious youth on her cell phone, while he lay dead in her hallway, then sent the image to Hughes, who sent a text message. texted Tustin 18 hours before the fatal assault telling her to ‘finish him’.

It then took Tustin 12 minutes to dial 999, rather than ring Hughes first, before lying to doctors and police that Arthur ‘fell and hit his head’.

She asserted at the trial he must have thrown himself down the stairs, despite evidence that he was so starved that he was almost unable to stand.

Speaking after the pair were found guilty, Arthur’s grandmother, Madeleine Halcrow, described Hughes and Tustin as ‘evil’ and ‘evil’.

The pair will be sentenced by a judge later.

It comes as an independent review is underway into the actions of social workers, who found no ‘protective concerns’ for the boy after visiting just two months ago. he was murdered.
