Arthur fans shed tears as the classic children’s cartoon ends after 25 years

Fans mourn the end of beloved children’s cartoons Arthur after 25 years on the air.

The series, which focuses on the life of human defender Arthur Reed, ends with four episodes set in the future that show what happened to the characters as they grew up.

PBSthe company that owns the rights to the show, has said that although the series is now over, Arthur will continue to grow in the future through “podcasts, short videos covering hot and trendy topics, and digital games.”

Fans expressed their sadness at the series’ ending on social media, with some describing it as “the end of an era”.

“Ending with Arthur and the gang becoming adults and Arthur narrating his story from the first volume as one of his books is probably the best ending the series could have,” one writer.

Arthur kind of shaped my childhood,” wrote another. “As a child, this show brought me so much joy as I would watch it after a long day of school. I’m sad that this epic show is coming to an end but all good things must come to an end.”

Another fan wrote: “Most shows that last like this lose a little bit of what makes them special but Arthur is one of the few exceptions that can prevent seasonal rot.

“Thanks for it being a great memory from my childhood and ending it on a high note.”

“Just found out that Arthur will end at 16:30 today. I though this winter will be over but I think I will cry a lot sooner than I thought,” one fan said.

In the United Kingdom, some seasons of Arthur can be streamed right now on Prime Video.
