ARSENAL fans face a nightmare on Monday night after Newcastle after the Premier League confirmed a date for the rescheduled North London Derby.
But the announcement has had a knock-on effect arsenals Away game in Newcastle originally scheduled for Sunday 15th June
That game has now been postponed and will be played live on Sky Sports with an evening kick-off a day later.
This means Gunners fans are faced with the nightmare prospect of a 500-mile round-trip on a Monday night.
Trains are unlikely to leave for London after the full-time whistle as the club are said to be exploring ways to subsidize fans.
The use of coaches for season ticket holders is also possible.
However, fans were left furious by the announcement as a trip back to London on Monday night is all but impossible.
One beamed on Twitter: “Fans are being screwed by TV channels again aren’t they? They really don’t care about those paying the money to go.”
Another added: “For heaven’s sake not another opener on Monday night.”
This was announced by a spokesman for the Arsenal Supporters Trust Daily mail: “We see again and again that games are postponed at short notice to times that are simply impossible for fans.
“Arsenal as a club claim that the views of the fans are important. They need to do more than talk and start acting.
“This means not voting and raising hands to vote on broadcast deals that give free rein to ignoring fans’ needs.
“It also means that a decent travel option to get to a game if it’s being rescheduled for TV and there’s no public transport is completely gone.”
Tottenham have also been affected with their trip to Liverpool on May 7 being postponed from 3pm to 7.45pm, live on BT Sport.
And much like Arsenal fans returning home from Newcastle, Spurs supporters face a nightmarish journey back to London from the North West.
