ARSENAL is sweating over striker Gabriel Martinelli’s fitness amid fears he has suffered a hamstring injury against Everton on Monday.
The Brazilian striker, 20 years old, fell in the 71st minute of the match Defeat 2-1 with what initially looked like cramps.
He was replaced – surprisingly – by Eddie Nketiah, as Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe were both looked down upon.
Asked if he needed a side spell, the Gunners boss said: “I don’t know we’ll have to judge him.
“He feels something in his hamstring so I’m not very positive about it.”
It would be a blow for the Gunners if they had to manage without Martinelli, who has started the last two games.
Arteta’s men have a series of games that will give them a chance to return to the pre-Christmas season.
They have home matches against Southampton and West Ham.
That’s as well as trips to the Leeds and Norwich stalwarts.
Arsenal also face Sunderland League One in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals as they will be the favorites to book a spot in the final four.
