Arsenal News LIVE: Paqueta BIDDER war, Morata SNUBS Gunners, Wright comments, Gabriel transfer UPDATE

Lost his Ed

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has slammed Eddie Nketiah for not taking the opportunity to become the club’s main striker.

Wright told Arseblog, “For the last one [however] A lot of games that we have left, I would probably sit Eddie Nketiah down and say, ‘Listen, I don’t know what the hell is on your mind, but we’re going through it [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang, you are an aspiring striker.

“‘You were under the spell here when he didn’t score, you’re here now if Alexandre Lacazette doesn’t score, you’re a centre-forward and when you come I don’t see it’.

“He needs that conversation to say that there is a number nine position at Arsenal for someone who can do that job and he’s young enough to do that job and get in the box.

“And I think to myself, coming through, I remember at Crystal Palace I had Trevor Aylott and Andy Gray and all I was like was, ‘If only I could have a damn chance of a run on this team’.

“And it seems to me if you look at Eddie as a forward we thought was the boxing forward that we need. I thought we had a replacement for Aubameyang and Lacazette – but what happened to Eddie in that regard? Your job as number nine is to take on these guys!

“That’s one of the most frustrating things for me, seeing that there’s a striker, I don’t know if he’s going to leave or not, it doesn’t look like contract talks are going on, maybe he’s made his worries.”
