Arsenal news LIVE: Bukayo Saka stops contract talks, Joao Felix and Isak latest, Aubameyang scores back

Good morning Gunners fans

Arsenal transfer target Jonathan David has reportedly revealed he plans to leave Lille in the summer.

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, the 22-year-old is eager to move on when the season ends despite having a contract with Lille until 2025.

But the Canadian striker is only interested in a move to a club that could offer him the chance to play in next season’s Champions League.

And Arsenal can fulfill David’s desire to join the elite European stage if they qualify for the tournament.

Meanwhile, Arsenal reported a staggering record loss of £107.3m in the last financial year, with £85m attributed to the Covid pandemic.

That is more than double last year’s financial shortfall of £47.8m as the day’s revenue was effectively wiped out by playing behind closed doors.

Each empty Emirates stadium game costs the club around £3m, resulting in a sharp drop in revenue for the day from £79m to just £3.9m.

However, their annual salary figure remains at £244.4 million and an additional £6.7 million must be paid to staff who were laid off last year due to the pandemic.

Ultimately, the confidence of Arsenal supporters led to the decision to raise the club’s full season ticket prices for the first time in seven years.

Arsenal will charge fans around 4% more for tickets per season to earn around £4m more a year.

AST said: “AST believes a 4% increase in ticket prices is unreasonable at a time when Arsenal’s overall revenue is growing and fans are experiencing other pressures on their disposable income. ”
