Arsenal break into top 4 at West Ham’s expense

Arsenal to replace West Ham inside Premier League Top 4 after beating them 2-0 at Emirates Stadium thanks to goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Emile Smith Rowe
Martinelli gave the Gunners a three-minute lead in the second half before West Ham dropped to 10 men when Vladimir Coufal was sent off after a foul on Alexandre Lacazette.
The penalty taken by Lacazette, in the 69th minute, was saved by the Arsenal keeper Lukasz Fabianski but substitute Smith Rowe then doubled the lead for the home side with three minutes remaining in normal time.
After scoring their second win in five days when former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was dropped from the team for a disciplinary offense, Arsenal took the lead over the Hammers in fourth place.
Wolves are rising to eighth after Romain Saiss’ effort just before the break helped them to a 1-0 win over Brighton.
While it was the first win in the away team’s five outings, Brighton’s winless streak extended to 11 matches.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace and Southampton drew 2-2 at Selhurst Park.
After Wilfried Zaha’s early opener for the Eagles was canceled out by a James Ward-Prowse free-kick in the 32nd minute, Armando Broja gave Southampton the lead four minutes later. Jordan Ayew then scored the equalizer in the 65th minute.
