The Queens tarot card reader allegedly killed by a disgruntled customer performed rituals including love spells and the removal of evil spirits for hundreds of people, a former neighbor told the Post on Friday.
“One time my house caught fire because of what she was doing, she had candles,” her former landlady, Tulha Bakh, said.
According to Bakh, Anna Torres, 51, once ran her booming fortune-telling business from the first-floor apartment the victim rented from her apartment building in Hollis, Queens — performing “house cleanings” and ceremonies to help clients keep their ” get spouse back”. .”
“When she lived here, she saw hundreds of customers,” Bakh said.
“There was no sign, it was all word of mouth. She did tarot cards, house cleaning [and would] get someone’s spouse back, get their husband back or whatever,” the landlord said.
Bakh said Torres is a “very nice woman” but that she personally “don’t believe in” the readings.
“None of these things made sense to me. I think people who read maps and stuff take advantage of others. They’re using information based on a lot of fake things,” Bakh said.
Allegedly angered client Giuseppe Canzani, 41, is accused of fatally shooting Torres at her home in Ozone Park on Wednesday because he believed she was “a witch” who cursed him, sources said.
