The British star, 19, had multiple chances to eliminate the Croatian from the third round of the BNP Paribas Open.

But a significant number of errors cost her money, she was beaten 6-7, 6-4, 7-5 after two hours and 45 minutes of bitter struggle.

The reigning US Open champion has not won a consecutive match since playing in Romania in late October.

But she will now fly to Miami to regroup and kickstart her 2022 season.

The first set in the desert was grueling, with Raducanu eventually winning the tiebreak after 61 minutes despite leading 5-3.

The Brit split in the second set but failed to capitalize on the opportunity as split star Martic, 31, equalised.

The Kent ace, who recently returned from a hip injury, will be kicking herself for not taking her chance when she served 5-4 in the third set.

But she was busted for the seventh time, eventually having to pack her bags from the circuit’s fifth-biggest tournament.

Andy Murray later lost in straight sets to Bublik of Kazakhstan.

The former British No. 1 was beaten 7-6 (9) 6-3 in just over two hours.

The three-time Grand Slam winner had three set points when a close first set went into a tiebreak but failed to convert and world No. 33 Bublik prevailed.

The Scot then spurned two break points in the opening game of set number two before getting broken himself in game four.

He dug deep to salvage three break points in game six but couldn’t force his way back into the match and Bublik ended the win.

Brother Jamie and his Brazilian partner Bruno Soares were well beaten by Rohan Bopanna and Denis Shapovalov.
