Andrew Garfield bursts into tears onstage at the Costume Designers Guild Awards and admits he “shouldn’t be crying.”

ANDREW Garfield broke down in tears at last night’s Costume Designers Guild Awards.
The 38-year-old actor received the coveted Spotlight Award for his tick, tick… BOOM! Co-star Judith Light on Santa Monica’s The Broad Stage.

Andrew is a hot pick for Best Oscar for his role as playwright Jonathan Larson in the autobiographical musical drama.
But his spotlight gong is a career-spanning honor for “an enduring commitment to excellence, including a special awareness of the role and importance of costume design.”
Andrew took the stage in a sleek black Saint Laurent suit, hugged Judith and immediately got emotional.
He said: “I’m so angry, so upset. I wasn’t supposed to cry tonight and Judith just made me cry.

“I’m so surprisingly overwhelmed and touched to be in this space with my community and so many employees who I love and appreciate, and I’m just so grateful to know that.
“To be honored by the angel on earth that is Judith Light is a moment that will drive me for the next 30 years.”
Andrew, who has starred in Hacksaw Ridge, Spider-Man and The Social Network, was announced as the recipient of the award last month.
Salvador Perez, President of the Costume Designers Guild, said, “Andrew Garfield’s history with costume design has transcended genres.
“A tech giant, a decorated soldier, a superhero and now he’s got it covered with his performances in The Eyes of Tammy Faye and tick, tick…BOOM! proved that he can and carries just about anything.”
And Andrew may soon be embracing the sequined costumes synonymous with Strictly Come Dancing.
While appearing on The Graham Norton Show last month, he admitted to being a huge fan of the show and said he’d give it a shot if he won an Oscar.
He said: “It’s hard to admit… I would love to do Strictly. I would absolutely love it – it’s on the bucket list.”
Professional dancer Johannes Radebe then said to him: “Well thanks, I’ll do that!”
Andrew replied: “It would be so much… If I win the Oscar then I will come and do it. How is that?”
