An off-duty Hitchcock police officer shoots a man who approached him with a gun on Pasadena’s Spencer Highway, authorities say

PASADENA, Texas (KTRK) — An off-duty Hitchcock police officer shot and killed a possible suspect early Monday morning, according to the Pasadena Police Department.

Authorities said the shooting happened just before 5 a.m. at Block 3100 of Spencer Highway.

According to the Hitchcock Police Chief, the officer was approached by a man with a gun. At that moment, the officer fired his gun and shot the man dead.

“Called by an off-duty officer, shot at someone holding a gun,” a 911 dispatcher was heard saying over rangecast audio.

The injured person was taken to Bayshore Hospital in Pasadena.

SkyEye captured video at the scene showing crime tape covering a large portion of the parking lot of an apartment complex in the area.
