“American Idol” singer Kenedi Anderson falls out of the top 24, calling it one of the “hardest decisions” she’s made

Kenedi’s journey continues american idol kicked off with an impressive audition for season 20. The 17-year-old Virginia resident told the judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan that she came from a sporting family but often turned to music instead. Due to her father’s work, her family moved often, and music helped the young singer overcome the challenges of starting out in new cities.
Kenedi performed a stunning piano interpretation of Lady Gaga’s “Applause”. When the teenager finished singing, Katy immediately declared herself a fan of Kenedi.
“You’re a five-star recruit,” Luke added. “I think you could be the biggest star we’ve ever seen.”
Kenedi’s talent earned her the season second platinum ticket to Hollywood. Introduced to celebrate 20 seasons, these special tickets were only available to three singers. They allowed recipients to sit out the first round of Hollywood Week so they could gauge the competition.

Kenedi continued to impress the judges throughout Hollywood Week, making the Top 24. She appeared alongside her colleague The 24 best candidates at the Disney Aulani Resort in Hawaii. However, it turned out that this performance was her last american idol.
The episode from 11 american idol showed Kenedi singing Christina Perri’s “Human,” but viewers didn’t get a chance to vote for her. Then, at the end of her performance, host Ryan Seacrest announced that she had left the competition after they included the top 24 for “personal reasons.”
“We send her well,” he added.
After her performance aired, Kenedi went to twitter share a statement. She said it was “one of the hardest decisions” she’s ever made. Read her full statement below:
“For personal reasons, I can’t continue american idol. It was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make, but I know it’s necessary. I’m so grateful to American Idol, the judges, the producers, the amazing contestants and all the fans who supported me. Thank you for giving me such an amazing opportunity to share my voice, pursue my dreams, find so much joy and happiness in what I love, and make lifelong friends in the process.”
Fans took to social media to wish Kenedi the best of luck following her departure
While many fans were disappointed to see Kenedi go, they took to Twitter to offer her support.
“I’m sorry to see you go. You were the clear winner. Good luck and I hope all is well.” wrote one user.
“You were amazing and definitely would have made the top 3. I hope everything is good. Keep following your dreams” added another person.
