Amber Heard Had PTSD From Johnny Depp’s Sexual Abuse: Psychologist

Johnny Depp abused Amber Heard with a bottle, forced her to give him oral sex and subjected her to “cave searches” during their relationship, a psychologist said on Tuesday — as the actress finally began to present her side in the couple’s defamation trial.

dr Dawn Hughes, the first witness called by Heard’s defense team, said the 36-year-old Aquaman star suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder after marrying Depp due to the alleged abuse she suffered at his hands.

“When Mr. Depp was drunk or high, he would throw her on the bed, rip off her nightgown and try to have sex with her,” Hughes said, referring to alleged incidents Heard reported to her.

“There were times when he would force her to give him oral sex when he was mad at her.”

In a more graphic testimony, Hughes described how Depp allegedly used his fingers to perform a “hollow search” on Heard’s personal life – and said the actress “distanced himself” when Depp allegedly abused her with a bottle.

Hughes, who specializes in “interpersonal abuse abuse,” said the actress was particularly vulnerable, having grown up in an abusive household where she learned “to love someone who hurt her.”

“Love and normality are almost always in these relationships,” Hughes, the trial witness at the trials of disgraced rapper R. Kelly and Nxivm sex slave cult leader Keith Raniere, testified at the Depp trial.

“When you’re in a doldrums and the violence doesn’t happen, you’re back with the man you fell in love with. It creates a trauma bond,” she said.

Heard seemed on the verge of tears as she testified about her childhood with an abusive father, which Hughes said made her more vulnerable to renewed victimization.

“She learned to be a janitor from a young age,” Hughes said. “She learned that she can love someone who hurt her.”

The psychologist said Heard believes she can “fix” Depp – “just like she tried to fix her father.”

“She really believed that she could fix Mr. Depp and get him out of his substance abuse problems, but that didn’t work,” Hughes said.

Depp, 58, alleges in the $50 million defamation lawsuit that it was Heard who was abusive and that her claims to the contrary harmed his career and income.

In another testimony Tuesday, Erin Falati, a private nurse once hired by Heard, said the actress struggled with anxiety, bipolar disorder and substance abuse.

“I have a general memory of there being … jealousy and anxiety issues, including distrust within the relationship,” Fatalti said in a pre-recorded statement.

A forensic accountant said Depp lost as much as $40 million after Heard’s op-ed.

“I have a vague idea that these issues have cropped up over the years, but I wouldn’t say it’s been a constant theme,” she said.

Depp says Heard’s allegations cost him lucrative bookings and his recurring role as Captain Jack Sparrow in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean film series.

“I have concluded that Mr. Depp suffered approximately $40 million in lost earnings,” Michael Spindler, a forensic accountant, testified on Tuesday on the actor’s behalf.

However, Spindler conceded under cross-examination by Heard attorney Benjamin Rottenborn that he did not include Depp’s alleged drug and alcohol abuse and his “deteriorating performance at the box office” in the calculation.

Still, Judge Penney Azcarate denied a motion by Heard’s attorneys to dismiss Depp’s lawsuit after his side dropped their case.

The actress is now expected to comment in her own defense when the trial resumes on Wednesday.
