Amber Heard explains photos of herself with scars on the red carpet after Johnny Depp’s vodka bottle fight

A Virginia court was shown photos of Amber Heard’s scarred arm at a 2015 red carpet event, which she says was caused by a violent incident involving Johnny Depp and a vodka bottle.

“These are scars I got when Johnny strangled and attacked me on a worktop in Australia,” Ms Heard said in court Monday as she took the witness stand during the multi-million dollar ex-spouses defamation trial.

The judges were shown a photograph taken at a New York City premiere for the independent film If I live my life again on April 15, 2015.

Ms Heard said the event came shortly after an incident in Australia earlier in March, in which she said: “Johnny held me down on the worktops and my arms were cut on the glass in that attack”.

Other photos from a second red carpet event – for the Magic Mike Press tour – were shown to the court, revealing multiple scars on Ms Heard’s left arm as she brushed her hair away from her face.

Ms Heard said she tried to cover the scars with make-up but they were “a bit more difficult to cover as they are quite recent”.

She said Mr Depp didn’t want her to go on the press tour.

The former spouses have given drastically different accounts of the March 2015 incident in Australia.

Ms Heard testified that Mr Depp molested her with a liquor bottle.

Mr Depp testified that Ms Heard threw a vodka bottle at him which cut off the tip of his middle finger.

Ms Heard returned to the stand for a third day of testimony as the trial resumed on Monday after a week-long hiatus.

Mr Depp is suing his ex-wife for defamation over a 2018 comment she wrote for The Washington Post where she described herself as “a public figure who represents domestic violence”.

That Pirates of the Caribbean The actor is credited in the article, titled “I spoke out against sexual violence — and faced the wrath of our culture. That needs to change.”

However, Mr Depp claims that this falsely implies that he is a domestic abuser – something he strongly denies – and that it has made it difficult for him to land roles in Hollywood. He is suing for $50 million.

Ms Heard is filing a $100million counterclaim, accusing Mr Depp of organizing a “defamation campaign” against her and describing his lawsuit as a continuation of “abuse and harassment”.

The trial began on April 11 in Fairfax, Virginia, with explosive testimony in the courtroom. Amber Heard explains photos of herself with scars on the red carpet after Johnny Depp’s vodka bottle fight
