TRIBUTES was paid to a “wonderful” three-year-old boy who died in a horrific accident that also killed his sister.
Jayden-Lee Lucas was returning from a birthday party with his family when their car collided with a truck on the M4.
The young player was quickly taken to the hospital but unfortunately passed away nearly a week after the horrific incident on February 5.
In a double tragedy, four-year-old sister Gracie-Ann Wheaton also died in the crash after suffering a cardiac arrest.
The child’s parents were rushed to the hospital for their mother to continue receiving treatment.
Cousin Jamie Lucas, 19, from Abergavenny, said: “Unfortunately, after a week of fighting, Jayden passed away.
“He was amazing, creative and a kind soul. Turned the gray sky blue. “
Heartbroken Jamie also paid tribute to Gracie-Ann on behalf of her family after her tragic death.
He said: “I’m just trying to get around the fact that she’s gone; it’s hard to believe.
“She is very young. She has a bright future ahead of her. She is a wonderful child.
“I was really at a loss for words. How did she come back from a birthday party and suddenly she was gone. “
He added: “She is very smart, she is very creative. She also has a really great imagination. She is wonderful to be around. “
The family was on the westbound roadway between intersections 28 and 29 when the tragedy occurred.
Ford Transit driver Martin Newman, 41, has been charged with death by dangerous driving and two counts of serious injury by dangerous driving.
He was remanded in custody pending a hearing at Newport Crown Court on February 21.
