ALERT DAY FRIDAY: Severe storms possible

RALEIGH, NC (WNCN) — A cold front moving through central North Carolina on Friday will bring another severe weather threat, making it a CBS 17 severe weather event ALARM DAY.
Showers and thunderstorms are likely Friday morning and afternoon.
There is a small risk that severe storms could develop, which corresponds to level 2 on the scale 1-5 of severe weather hazard.

The most likely time for Friday is now 9am to 6pm but we were able to see some scattered showers and storms early Friday morning.
The main threat will be damaging downburst winds in excess of 60mph.
Heavy rain with thunder and lightning is also likely with the possibility of hail and isolated tornadoes.
