AFC seeks to boost Dream Asia Foundation funding with prize money

December 13 – The AFC’s Social Responsibility Committee has proposed that a percentage of prize money from AFC competitions be retained and transferred to the Dream Asia Foundation. The grant will increase the fund’s ability to assist vulnerable communities across the Continent.

Under current regulations, the AFC Champions League 2022 champion and runner-up team allocates 5% of their prize money to the AFC Dream Asia Foundation to fund social responsibility activities proposed by the clubs.

Similarly, under the Agreement of the Association of Asian Cup Organizers, the home team provides the AFC with 10% of ticket sales to fund the AFC’s Corporate Social program.

The AFC Social Responsibility Committee adopted a recommendation to withhold 5% of the prize money from these ‘AFC Competitions’ and transfer these funds to the AFC Dream Asia Foundation. This will expand the reach and impact of AFC’s social responsibility efforts.

The proposal will now be submitted to the AFC Competition Committee for approval before being submitted to the AFC Executive Committee for approval.

In his address to the AFC’s Social Responsibility Committee, chairman Zaw Zaw “reiterates his gratitude to the AFC, its Member Associations (MAs) and Regional Associations (RAs) for its solidarity.” Their commitment, dedication and leadership in supporting and empowering communities in need, especially during an AFC statement said.
