Game – shared by The Verge – works on desktop and mobile and is completely free to play.

You just need to arrange the important events – like wars, birth dates of historical figures, years of business establishment – in chronological order.

You are presented with a single card at a time, each taken from Wikipedia.

For example, you might be asked if the hard drive was invented before or after Green Day.

You may then be asked to book the War of the Third Coalition, or the Age of Regent of Great Britain.

You are tasked with ranking up for as long as possible. Check it out:

But you only have three lives – and every mistake costs you.

The early rounds can be easy, but the difficulty will increase as the days become denser.

Even if you don’t know the answer for sure, sometimes a brief description or visual style can provide important clues.

But you are very easy to make mistakes and lose your life if one day is very close to each other.

The game is coded by Tom Watson, a software engineer based in Madrid, Spain.

He describes Wikitrivia as a “quiz game” based on Wikipedia.

It has the simplicity of the recent viral game Wordle, is also a free browser-based puzzle.

But Wikitrivia has the ability to pay non-stop, so you don’t have to wait every day for a new puzzle.

It works on your desktop, as well as the browser on your iPhone or Android device.

And you can play with keyboard and mouse as well as touch screen.
