Activision is reportedly eyeing “NFT inclusion” in future Call of Duty games

Activision is reportedly considering including non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in upcoming Call of Duty titles, as an insider claims it’s currently under discussion.

While NFTs have been all the rage in recent months, it’s rare for a project announcement to emerge without a certain level of controversy.

Whether it alleged fraud or “Cringe” Marketing Campaignshave many of the top figures in the industry spoken against cryptocurrency based schemes, particularly related to video games.

In fact, Valve even went that far total ban NFT games on Steam, one of the largest distribution platforms today.

However, despite the near-endless waves of controversy, Activision is reportedly considering a possibility of implementing NFTs in its biggest franchise, Call of Duty.

Could the CoD store be filled with NFT-based items soon?

The report comes via the supposed industry insider “RalphsValve” who leaked one a lot of from CoD Specific Information in the last few months.

In an April 4 post, they claimed, “NFT inclusion is reportedly being considered by Activision.” While nothing is set in stone and it appears to be fairly early in the pipeline, it is reportedly being discussed nonetheless.

“NFTs have been under review and consideration for a number of months,” they said. given recent backlash However, with a number of NFT-based game projects, there’s always a chance that it will “fail”.

There’s no telling exactly how NFTs will be added to the CoD series if rumored plans go ahead. We could see everything from weapon skins to business cards delivered over the blockchain in this hypothetical future.

With a broader UI “overhaul” reportedly in the works, and Activision looking to “personalize” user accounts with more depth than ever before, NFTs could be one such way to make this possible.

Obviously, though, it’s all worth taking all of this with a massive grain of salt for now. There’s a chance these alleged talks have already ended given the extensive NFT drama in the gaming industry.
