A woman packs her bags during a burglary in a luxury skyscraper in Houston

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Houston police have picked up at least two reports of burglaries at a luxury condo building near River Oaks.

The crimes occurred on the evening of March 19 at the Arrive Apartments in Kirby and Westheimer.

A victim who spoke to ABC13 said her door had been kicked in.

“All the wood here was completely cracked,” she said as she showed our camera the broken door frame.

She wasn’t home at the time of the break-in, but she still feels hurt, she says.

“To be honest, I’m still very shaken,” she said. “I ended up sleeping with pepper spray in my hand because I was afraid someone would come in.”

The perpetrator broke in and targeted the victim’s high-end fashion by picking a lock on her closet door to get luxury goods.

“All my luxury items have been stolen. We’re talking about Gucci, Fendi, Prada. All my bags have been stolen. Jackets, coats, dresses were stolen. Jewelry was stolen,” she said.

The value of these lost items is approximately $100,000. She is upset about the robbery but more concerned for her safety, adding that there is no surveillance video of the crime.

“I expected to feel safe. I was expected to feel protected. I thought the complex had cameras but they don’t have cameras in the hallways, they don’t have cameras in the elevators,” the victim told ABC13.

In a message to residents, the property manager said these two break-ins were a first for their complex and they are now stepping up security patrols.

They also scheduled a safety meeting for residents in April. But it’s too late for this tenant, her sense of security is gone.

“I’m at a point where I’m moving out now. I’ve only been here three months and I don’t even want to stay,” she said.

She is offering a personal reward for information leading to an arrest. Call the Houston PD if you know anything about this expensive heist.
