A PLACE in the Sun’s Jasmine Harman brought a ‘picky’ couple to tears during their property search.
Thursday’s edition of Channel No. 4 shows Jasmine meeting Sarah and Greg, who want to find their dream home in the Charente region of France.
The couple have a budget of £250,000 and are hoping to find a four-bedroom house with a large open French kitchen.
Greg also wants a garage, and the couple hope the facility will have a pool or space where they can add one.
Jasmine warned them of their vast wish list but the couple were adamant and said they could increase their budget by up to £50,000 more to find it.
The first two properties failed to make their boat, while the third was more appealing with Sarah admitting: “This was the first kitchen I saw that I really loved.”
However, that was not enough to convince the couple that they had found ‘one of the two’ as there were some ‘kinks’.
“For me, I love the kitchen, but I go to the living room and I don’t know if it’s going to take hold of me,” says Sarah.
Meanwhile Greg worries about the garden and says: “We fixed the pool in our mind but I’m not sure about the slope of the garden.”
He then admits, “We’re picky,” and Jasmine replies, “You really made me work for it. I totally get it, it must be right. ”
Thankfully, she hit the jackpot with her fifth and final property – a five-bed house with half an acre of land and several outbuildings.
As they looked around, Sarah became emotional and said to the surprised Jasmine: “It makes me want to cry, this is the first time I’ve been touched.”
When the homeowner asked why, the house hunter replied, “We found what we were looking for” before wiping her eyes.
In the end, the couple’s first offer of £270,000 was rejected by the owner because it was almost £30,000 less than the asking price.
However, their £285,000 counter-offer was accepted by Sarah and Greg, who say they have found their “dream home”.
A Place in the Sun airs at 3pm on weekdays on Channel 4.
