A modest two-bedroom apartment in need of a ‘renewal’ hit the market at an attractive price

THIS modest two-bedroom flat has been put on the market for £1.5m despite being in need of a ‘refurbishment’.
The property sits in the Sandbanks millionaire’s playground in Poole, Dorset, at the same price as a 12-bedroom cottage in Yorkshire.
It sits on the ‘handle’ of the peninsula and overlooks Poole Harbor in front with the sandy beach and sea in the background.
But the apartment, called Utopia, was built in the late 1960s and the apartment has been with the same family for a number of years – and is about to be renovated.
It’s on Banks Road, a narrow strip of land with just one row of properties – and homes there command higher premiums because they have dual views.
The apartment is on the second floor of a row of eight others and faces the second largest natural harbor in the world, which is frequented by superyachts.
The apartment has 1,106 square feet of living space with a kitchen, living room, dining room, two double bedrooms and a bathroom.
Outside there is parking for one car and a shared sun terrace with direct access to the beach.
Sandbanks Beach is considered one of the most beautiful in the UK, with golden sands and breathtaking views, where visitors flock in the summer.
Lewis Steadman, from Key Drummond, who is selling the apartment, said: “The view is incredible.
“From the reception window you can immediately see the road from Poole Quay across to the end of the peninsula and Brownsea Island.
“There are also great views from the dining room and bedroom.
“In the summer, the harbor is full of kite-goers, boats, and you get that exotic superyacht into the harbour. So the scene is quite dynamic and constantly changing.”
He added: “I think what makes this apartment quite special is that you have the beach on your doorstep. You go out the front door, turn right and you’re on the beach, feet in the sand.
“A lot of the properties on that peninsula are second homes, they’re pretty quiet this time of year and you’ll see them really come up in the summer.
“I think two of the eight apartments in that building are full-time residents.
“The apartment is a good space, it would benefit from a bit of a remodel but it’s spacious and all principle rooms have views.”
The record for most expensive property on Sandbanks is Harbor Gate, a waterfront mansion once owned by Harry Redknapp, which sold last year for £10 million.
