A man sleeping on Coney Island beach was killed by a Parks Authority car

A man was fatally hit by a city parks authority vehicle while he was sleeping on Coney Island beach early Monday, police officers said.

The unidentified man, believed to be in his 40s, was lying on the beach just after 3am when the department vehicle struck him, police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Parks Department vehicle remained at the scene and no crime was suspected.
