A 33-year-old man was stabbed in the back at the Yankee Stadium subway station

A 33-year-old man was stabbed to death in a subway station at Yankee Stadium on Sunday afternoon, police said.

The attack occurred around 1:30 p.m. on the mezzanine floor of the No. 161st Street-Yankee Stadium station. 4, police officers said. It is unclear what triggered the violence.

The attacker was described as a teenage or 20s man wearing gray shorts, white sneakers and a red shirt, according to police.

The victim was taken to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition, police said.
