3 suspects run out of car with multiple bullet holes in Durham: police

DURHAM, NC (WNCN) – A search warrant was reported to the Durham Police Department around 6:10 a.m. Thursday, according to a search warrant.

In connection with the attack, police witnesses said they saw “several people” shooting from a car before jumping out and fleeing.

The car was identified as a black Toyota Camry located at the 100 Block of Young Avenue in the parking lot of a one-story apartment building, the warrant said.

The Camry was searched around 8:48 am Thursday after the incident for evidence that would link one or more of the people to involvement in aggravated assault and possession of a controlled substance.

The warrant included a probable cause, saying three people in the car “jumped out of the vehicle and ran on foot in front of the police.” Marijuana was also spotted in the driver’s seat, with bullet casings seen in and around the vehicle, officials said.

The car had “obvious bullet holes” with multiple holes piercing the exterior, the press release said.

During the search and investigation, Durham Police reported finding firearms, ammunition, magazines, bullet casings, marijuana, packaging materials and drug paraphernalia. DNA and trace evidence were also removed from the vehicle as part of the search.

At this time, no suspect names or arrests have been released in connection with this incident.
