22-year-old woman killed while working on equipment at Clayton Bakery, officials say

CLAYTON, NC (WNCN) — A young woman died Saturday afternoon while working at a commercial bakery in Clayton, officials said.

The incident was reported to Northeast Foods at 68 Harvest Mill Lane in South Clayton around 3:45 p.m., according to Clayton Police.

A 22-year-old woman was killed while working on industrial equipment at the bakery, Clayton City spokesman Nathanael Shelton said.

The Clayton company started production in 2011 and is known as Automatic Rolls, according to Food Engineering Magazine.

The incident is being investigated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Shelton said.

No further information was released.
