17-year-old Texas man shoots and kills 2 suspects trying to break into his home

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez is asking anyone with information to contact his office after two men who were reportedly trying to break into a home Friday night were shot dead by a teenager with a shotgun.

A homicide detective recording showed that around 10:40 p.m. local time, deputies responded to a call at the 16000 block of First Street in Channelview, Texas.

Upon arrival, deputies found two men on the lawn next to the house who were unresponsive with apparent gunshot wounds.

Both men were pronounced dead at that location by rescue workers.

Homicide and crime scene units responded to conduct a follow-up investigation.

Investigators determined that both victims and a third unidentified man, armed and wearing masks, attempted to break into a home occupied by an adult woman, a 12-year-old boy and two 17-year-old boys.

One of the 17-year-olds got a shotgun and fired it multiple times, hitting two suspects.

The third suspect fled in a dark four-door sedan.

No other injuries were reported.

The facts of the case were submitted by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, which recommended that the case be brought to a grand jury.

“The case will be brought before a grand jury. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact HCSO Homicide at 713-274-9100,” Gonzalez tweeted.
