Curious ones would like to know, because a new survey of 2,000 cat and dog owners shows one in four pet owners hopes to turn their fur baby into a social media sensation.

Many admitted that their pet’s profile has already exceeded the number of followers on their own personal page, with an average number of 925 fans on the platform. That means it was worth the work for 89% of owners, who said they spend more time on their pets’ profiles than their own.

New research from pet insurer ManyPets also revealed that more than a third – 35% – of them have created accounts for their pets to show pet lovers online.

Meanwhile, 40% of respondents said they prefer filling their own feeds with their furry friends, even more than snaps of themselves, family members, or human friends.

In fact, two-thirds admitted their pet is among their best friends, while half admitted spending more time with animal friends than their own family.

The results are a result of the booming pet influencer community on social media platforms like Instagram, as Fluffy and Fido’s fame brings with it potential adoptions and savings for the most popular pets.

Loni Edwards, Author and Founder of Dog Agency and PetCon, wrote the book how to make your pet instagram famous she is said, that Top animal influencers make $15,000 or more per post — like the late Grumpy Cat, whose fortune reached an estimated $100 million before him deceased in 2019.

“The important thing is that the majority of these influencers have fallen for it and are doing something they love, and that comes through in the content and it makes people happy,” she says said the post in 2021. “You’re building a community of people who have passions similar to yours.”
