One in ten singles will dismiss a potential partner if they’re too competitive on a first date, a survey has revealed.
The researchers found that playing sports or games like bowling could end in disaster.
About 13% of men reported losing a new partner is a big passion killer for them, while nine percent of women say the same.
But women are more likely to try to “crush” their first date in a game.
Six percent said they would do so compared to just three percent of men.
Singletons from London are more likely to end up on a first date because of the competition, followed by people from Newcastle, Birmingham and Cardiff.
The survey, conducted by golf course company Topgolf, polled 2,026 adults.
Spokesperson Michael Hay said: “Participating in competitive activities is a great icebreaker for anxious singles.
“But it’s important that things stay friendly and as a result don’t ruin your chances of finding love.”
